It was one thing to be in Milan, a bull in a snake pen, but the fact she was no longer was jarring all the same. The city was near desolate, and it took time enough to come across one person. She had no answers, and this place was none as she had seen. It certainly was not Rome, nor what she imagined France to be, where her brother was. No, she was in a foreign land altogether.
And she looked it. Her gown was extravagant, a picture of everything a Renaissance woman should be. She had wealth by the looks of it, good embroidery and the way her hair was done, perfectly so. She had never worked a day in her life.
"Pardon me," she said as she finally spotted someone. "Could you tell me where I am? And perhaps how I came to be here?"
